Athlete's Foot

"I have athletes foot and I've tried everything in the pharmacy and it still keeps coming back!"
Athletes foot is also known as tinea pedis and as a fungal infection, by definition it will take weeks to fully resolve. Usually, a strong anti fungal cream is prescribed and used twice a day for 3 weeks or more. Keep using the cream for a week even after your skin looks completely clear to try and prevent reoccurrance.

"How did I get athletes foot and is it contaminating my shoes?"
This fungal infection seems to plague some people and not others. People who follow the same behavior patterns, play the same sports and use the same gym may not have the same problems when it comes to this condition. It is not thought to be a problem with shoes or socks although it is recommended to wear clean, dry socks every day. Moisture and bad luck are often the culprits. Wear rubber flip flops in the shower at the gym and keep your feet dry. You do not need to replace your shoes.
